CSUS000 e-file error
The CSUS000 error code is assigned to a general category of errors that follow a format. Generally, the error will reference an invalid element.

For example:
- The e-file has failed Schema validation with the following errors: The 'xxxx' element is invalid. The pattern constraint failed.
- The e-file has failed schema validation with the following errors: The 'xxxx' element is invalid - The value 'xxxx' is invalid according to its datatype 'xxxx' - The Pattern constraint failed.
- The element 'xxxx' in namespace 'xxxx' has invalid child element 'xxxx' in namespace 'xxxx'.List of possible elements expected: 'xxxx in namespace 'xxxx'.
- The element 'xxxx.PDF' is invalid according to its datatype. Invalid character in a Base-64 string.
The element referenced in the error is the data you need to correct. The precise solution depends on the message you receive.
Solution
If the element referenced is a PDF attachment:
- Remove punctuation in the PDF filename.
- Keep the PDF file name to under 15 characters.
- Rename PDF files that share the same name.
- Recreate and retransmit the return.
If the element referenced relates to efast.gov:
- Go to the ELF screen.
- Open the Edit menu and select Delete Screen Data.
- Manually re-enter the information on this screen. Do not copy and paste information onto the screen.
- Recreate and retransmit the return.
For all other elements referenced:
- Identify the element. Other common elements are ZIP codes, plan numbers, and dates.
- Check for typos, extra numbers/letters, and extra spaces at the end of an entry.
- Check for form overrides.
- Recreate and retransmit the return.
