I-101 or I-101SF e-file error
((The Submitted Date is greater than the original due date, and Form 5500/5500-SF, Part I, Line D Form 5558, automatic extension, DFVC, or special extension is not checked) or (the Submitted Date is greater than the original due date + 78 days and Form 5500/5500-SF, Part I, Line D Form 5558 is checked and Form 5500/5500-SF, Part I Line D DFVC or special extension is not checked)) and the filing is not an amended filing and reasonable cause is not attached. << WARNING ONLY >>
The submitted date is late, according to the IRS, and can be because of a missing attachment or a reason they'd like to discuss with you.
Solution
If the error came with an acceptance, no further action is required. The error is a warning that the IRS may contact you.If the error came with a rejection, follow the steps below to attach an explanation.
- Open the Edit menu and select Electronic Filing Attachments.
- Select Add.
- In theProductdrop-down, chooseFederal.
- In theAttachment titledrop-down, chooseReasonable Cause for late filing. Do not modify the title or type into the field.
- Select Browse and choose the PDF you want to attach.
- Select OK to add the attachment.
- Recreate and retransmit the return.
