X-002 or X-002SF e-file error
Individual signing for plan sponsor is entered on the 5500 Screen. User ID and PIN is required on the ELF Screen.
There's a missing User ID and PIN for the individual signing. This can be due to missing or incorrect data entry.
Solution
The solution varies depending on who is signing the return:
- Plan admin and plan sponsor are the same
- Follow the data entry instructions in the Entering data for the same employer / sponsor and plan administrator form.
- Plan admin is signing
- If the plan admin is signing the return and is not the same person as the plan sponsor:
- Go to the General input folder.
- Open the 5500 screen and remove the name from theIndividual signing for plan sponsorfield.
- Go to the Admin screen and make surePlan administrator information same as sponsoris not marked.
- Complete the plan administrator information on this screen.
- Enter the name of the plan admin in theIndividual signing for plan administrator.
- Go to the Electronic Filing input folder.
- Open the ELF screen and enter signature information for the plan administrator only.
- Recreate and retransmit the return.
- Plan sponsor is signing
- If the plan sponsor is signing the return and is not the same person as the plan admin:
- Go to the General input folder.
- Open the 5500 screen and fill out the Sponsor / Employer information.
- Enter the name of the plan sponsor in theIndividual signing for plan sponsorfield.
- Go to the Admin screen and make surePlan administrator information same as sponsoris not marked.
- Make sure theIndividual signing for plan administratorfield is blank.
- Go to the Electronic Filing input folder.
- Open the ELF screen and enter signature information for the plan sponsor only.
- Recreate and retransmit the return.
