Set print and notification options for Power of Attorney and tax information authorization forms

  1. With the tax return open, select the
    Separate Filings
    folder then the
    POA
    tab.
  2. Choose to print only Form 2848, only Form 8821, or both forms via the
    Print Power of attorney / Tax information authorization
    field.
  3. If you want the client to file the form with the Internal Revenue Service, select the appropriate IRS service center from the
    IRS Service Center for power of attorney
    dropdown.

    You’ll also need to edit the filing instructions and slipsheets to replace the [firm name] variable with Internal Revenue Service and replace the [firm street], [firm city], and [firm zip] variables with the [POA addr] variable.
  4. By default, the first representative listed on Form 2848 will receive copies of notices and communications from the IRS.
    note
    To change this behavior, select the desired recipients from the
    Send copies of notices to representatives for Form 2848
    dropdown.
  5. To prevent UltraTax CS from sending copies of IRS notices to the appointee on Form 8821, mark the
    Send no notices to Form 8821 appointee
    checkbox.
    note
    If this field is marked, UltraTax CS automatically clears checkbox 5a on Form 8821. This field is used to complete Form 8821, line 5b and isn't applicable to Form 2848.
