You can typically resolve this rejection by recreating and retransmitting the federal return.
Solution
If you're still getting this rejection after retransmitting, suppress the state return one of two ways:
- In the federal Electronic filing folder, go to the ELF screen and check the box toSuppress the creation of: State electronic file when only filing federal returns or extension electronically.
- In the state Electronic filing folder, go to the state's ELF screen and check the box toSuppress electronic file when filing federal return or extension electronically.

If you receive this rejection for a state return, mark the checkbox
Suppress the creation of: Federal electronic file when filing other returns/forms electronically
. Then recreate and retransmit the e-file.
