F990-912-01 and F990-913-01 e-file error

  • Form 990EZ Database Validation Error: /Return/ReturnData/IRS990EZ/Organization501c3Ind: Organization type specified in Item J, must match data in the e-file database. (rule F990-912-01)
  • Form 990 Database Validation Error: /Return/ReturnData/IRS990/Organization501cInd: Tax-exempt status specified in Item I, must match data in the efile database. (rule F990-913-01)
The tax-exempt status on Form 990 doesn't match what the IRS has on file for the EIN listed on the return.

Solution

  1. Go to the
    General input
     folder.
  2. Open the
    990
     screen.
  3. Check that the
    EIN
     and
    Tax-exempt status
     fields are correct.
  4. If you made any changes, re-create and retransmit the return.
  5. If the fields are correct, contact the IRS at 866-255-0654 to resolve this error or paper file the return.
