R0000-004-01 e-file error

'ReturnTypeCd' (specified in the Return Header) and the return version (specified by the 'returnVersion' attribute of the 'Return' element) of the return must match the return type and the version supported by the Modernized e-File system. (rule R0000-004-01)
Currently, the IRS supports the e-filing of the current year and 2 previous years of 990 returns.

Solution

Returns for tax years older than 2021 need to be paper filed.
If you are receiving this error when e-filing a 2021, 2022, or 2023 return, you need to update UltraTax CS.
  1. In UltraTax CS, open the
    Utilities
     menu and select
    CS Connect
    .
  2. Set the
    Retrieve and apply available updates
     switch to
    Yes
    .
  3. Select the
    Connect
     button to download and apply all available updates.
  4. Re-create and retransmit the return.
