R0000-017-01 e-file error

If 'DiscussWithPaidPreparerInd' in 'BusinessOfficerGrp' in the Return Header has a choice of "Yes" indicated, then 'PhoneNum' in 'PreparerPersonGrp' must have a value.
The return is marked to allow the IRS to discuss the return with the preparer but the firm phone number is missing.

Solution

  1. Open the
    File
     menu, then select
    Client Properties
    .
  2. Check the
    Preparer Block
    , then complete the appropriate set of steps.
    • If your Preparer Block is not Personal Preparer,
      1. Open the
        Setup
         menu, then select
        System Configuration
        .
      2. Open the
        Firm
         tab.
      3. Complete the
        Phone number
         field.
    • If your Preparer block is Personal Preparer,
      1. Go to the
        General input
         folder
      2. Open the
        OthInfo
         screen.
      3. Select
        No
         from the
        IRS may discuss return with preparer
         dropdown list.
  3. Re-create and retransmit the return.
