File 990-PF estimates electronically
Follow these steps to create the tax return electronic file if you're using electronic funds withdrawal (EFW) to pay for estimates.
- Open theELF-2screen in theElectronic Filingfolder.
- Mark theElectronic funds withdrawal for Form 990-PF estimated paymentscheckbox.
- Enter the client's bank account information.
- SelectView, thenDiagnosticsto review all diagnostic messages in theFederal Diagnosticswindow.
- Select any item displayed in the window to open the corresponding screen to address the diagnostic message. Clear all Critical and ELF Critical diagnostic messages and review the FYI diagnostic messages, then close theFederal Diagnosticswindow.
- SelectFile, thenPrint Returns.
- Mark theGovernment copyandCreate electronic filecheckboxes.
- Print the return to generate the electronic file either to a printer or to FileCabinet CS.
- Transmit the electronic returns using CS Connect. In CS Connect, you will have a single file that includes the tax return and all estimate payments.note
- If you file a return after the due date for the estimated tax payments, you need to make the estimated payments through the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS). Clear theElectronic funds withdrawal for Form 990-PF estimated paymentsfield on theELFscreen in theElectronic Filingfolder. Then select the EFTPS option in theEstimatefield on theLetterscreen in theGeneralfolder.
- The IRS withdraws estimates on the 15th of the month (adjusted for weekends and holidays). Therefore, fields aren't available to enter withdrawal dates.
- You can't file estimates electronically either separately or with extensions. You can only file 990-PF estimates electronically with returns.
