Enter fundraising/gaming information for exempt organizations and private foundations

  1. Select
    File
    ,
    Open
    , then choose the client.
  2. Select the
    Direct
    folder, then select the
    Event screen (990E)
    EventPF screen (990PF)
    tab.
  3. Enter an activity description of the event.
  4. In the General Information section, enter
    3
    for
    Fundraising / Gaming
    in
    Type of income
    .
  5. To distinguish gaming income in the
    Event screen (990E)
    , select a type from the
    Gaming type
    dropdown list.
  6. In the Income section on the
    Event-2
    or
    Even-2PF
    screen:
    1. Enter the non-contribution receipts in
      Gross receipts or sales
      .
    2. Enter cash or non-cash contributions in
      Contributions received: Cash
      and/or
      Contributions received: Noncash
      for 990E or
      Contributions received
      for 990PF.
    note
    The contributions here shouldn't be entered in the
    Income
    screen,
    IncomePF
    screen, or in the
    Contributor Information
    window.
    Contributions entered in the
    Event-2
    ,
    Even-2PF
    ,
    Income
    , and
    IncomePF
    screens and in the
    Contributor Information
    window are combined on Page 1 of the return.
    Contributions entered into the
    Contributor Information
    screen won't be combined on Page 1 of the return if you've marked the
    Exclude Schedule B from income
    checkbox.
  7. In the Directly Related Expenses section, enter expenses directly related to the special event.
    note
    The fundraising expenses you enter here are reported on Form 990, Part VIII or Form 990-EZ, Part I, where they are subtracted from special event income. Specific data entry for Schedule G (990 only) is available on the
    Event-4
    screen.
