Enter unrelated business income and expenses for clients' event activity
- SelectFile,Open, then choose the client.
- Select theDirectfolder, then theEvent (990E)orEventPF (990PF)screen.noteIf you don't enter a number inUnit, the information doesn't transfer to the return.
- In theDescriptionfield, enter a description of the activity.
- In the General Information section, enter the following information.
- InType of income, enter a code to describe the income.
- InUnrelated business code, enter a code to describe the income.
noteThe information doesn't appear on the 990-T return if you don't enter a code inUnrelated business code. - In the Form 990-T Information section, enter a code inForm 990-T codeif you want the information to appear in one of the schedules on Form 990-T.noteIf you don't enter a code, the information is reported on Form 990-T, Page 1. This section only applies if you enter an unrelated business code in the General Information section on theEvent (990E)orEventPF (990PF)screen.
- Enter the information needed to complete the schedules on Form 990-T in the following sections:
- Schedule E — Unrelated Debt-Financed Income.
- Schedule F — Controlled Organizations.
- Investment, Exploited Activities, and Advertising Income section (990E).
- Exploited Activities and Advertising Income section (990PF).
- Select theEvent-2,Event-3, orEvent-4screen tab (990E) orEven-2PFscreen tab (990PF).
- In the Income section on theEvent-2 (990E)orEven-2PF (990PF)screen, enter gross receipts, advertising income, circulation income, other income, returns and allowances, and contributions received.
- In the Cost of Goods Sold section in theEvent-2 (990E)orEven-2PF (990PF)screen, enter inventory information for the unrelated business activity.
- In the Directly Related Expenses section on theEvent-3andEvent-4 (990E), or the Even-2PF (990PF)screen, enter expenses in the input screen or in the statement windows.
