Use the Transfer tab of the asset module's Asset Detail window to transfer an asset to a different activity or to one of four associations within the same activity. Eligible associations include: cost center, department, division, and location.
Access the Transfer tab by selecting Add or Modify in the Asset List window, then selecting the Transfer tab in the Asset Detail window.
note
Disposed and current-year assets cannot be transferred. If the asset being added or modified has been disposed or was placed in service in the current year, the boxes in this tab are not available.
Fields and buttons
Transfer-Out group box
Date of transfer
Enter the date the asset was transferred to another activity or to a different association within the same activity.
Type of transfer
Select either
Activity
or an association from the dropdown list. Assets can be transferred to a different activity or to one of four associations within the same activity. Eligible associations include: cost center, department, division, and location.note
- If an asset is transferred to a different activity, a new asset will be created in the destination activity.
- If an asset is transferred to a different association, a new asset, with the new association, will be created in the current activity.
From
This displays the name of the activity or association for the current asset. The entry in this box depends on the selection in
Type of transfer
.To
Select the activity or association to which you want to transfer the current asset. What's available in the dropdown list depends on the selection in
Type of transfer
.New asset information group box
Asset #
This displays the new asset number once the transfer is complete.
Treatment
Select a treatment from the dropdown list to view the cost/basis and total depreciation for the new asset.
Cost/Basis
This displays the amount entered in
Cost/Basis
in the Depreciation tab for the selected treatment.Total depreciation
This displays the amount entered in the
Prior Depreciation
in the Depreciation tab for the selected treatment.Transfer-In group box
Date of transfer
This displays the date the current asset was transferred.
Type of transfer
This displays the type of transfer that took place for the current asset.

To
This displays the name of the activity or association to which the asset was transferred.
Original asset information group box
Asset #
This displays the asset number of the original asset.
