Email or export client data from UltraTax CS or Fixed Assets CS

Follow these steps to create unencrypted CSD files of client data in UltraTax CS or Fixed Assets CS that you can email or send to a file location.
important
A CSD file type is specific to UltraTax CS and Fixed Assets CS. You'll need to have them installed in order to open or restore client data. Make sure the recipient of this data has UltraTax CS or Fixed Assets CS installed (depending on what you're sending) so they can open the file.

Email client data

You'll need to have a MAPI-compliant email software (such as Outlook) to email client data using this method. If you don't, use the method to send client data to a file location. This will let you manually attach the file as an attachment to an email.
  1. In UltraTax CS or Fixed Assets CS, select
    File
    ,
    Send to
    , then
    Email Recipient
    .
  2. Double-click the client.
  3. Optional:
    Password protect the client information by entering a password in the given field.
  4. Select
    OK
    .
Once you select
OK
, UltraTax CS or Fixed Assets CS will prompt your email software to create the email. Enter an email address in the given field and send.
tip
If your email software is MAPI-compliant and doesn't open and create an email, make sure you have the correct email software in
System Settings
then
Default Apps
. If it still doesn't work, use the following method and manually attach the CSD file to an email.

Send client data to a file location

  1. In UltraTax CS or Fixed Assets CS, select
    File
    ,
    Send to
    , then
    File
    .
  2. Double-click the client.
  3. Optional:
    Password protect the client information by entering a password in the provided field.
  4. Select
    Modify Destination
    to set the file location where you want to send the client data.
  5. Select
    OK
    .
