Restore CSD files in Virtual Office CS
When using UltraTax CS or Fixed Assets CS in Virtual Office CS, you'll need to restore CSD backup files in Microsoft Outlook on Virtual Office CS, or use one of the following other methods. If you're trying to run or restore the backup file in a local version Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express (or a local folder), the local environment won't restore the client to Virtual Office.

If you're trying to run or restore the backup file locally, and a version of the CS application is installed locally, the client file will be restored to the local installation rather than to Virtual Office.
Use the following options to restore CSD backup files in Virtual Office.
Microsoft Outlook on Virtual Office
If the CSD file is attached to an email in Microsoft Outlook on Virtual Office, double-click the attachment to open the
Restore
window. Select Restore
to restore the client backup file.FileCabinet CS on Virtual Office
If you have FileCabinet CS on Virtual Office, you can open your C: drive by right-clicking on any drawer and selecting
Open C: drive on local machine (V:)
. If you save the file to your C: drive, you can go to it through FileCabinet CS, double-click the CSD file to open the Restore
window, and select Restore
to restore the client backup file.Custom Link in UltraTax CS or Fixed Assets CS on Virtual Office
Use Custom Links to place a link to your local C: drive on the UltraTax CS or Fixed Assets CS homepage. Follow these steps to restore a CSD file on Virtual Office.
- EnterV:\in theLink to: Filefield in theCustom Linkwindow.
- Enter, then selectOK.
- Select the homepage icon.
- Select theCustom linkicon

- If you saved your file to your local C: drive, go to it and double-click the CSD file. This will open theRestorewindow.
- SelectRestoreto restore the client backup file.
Local version of UltraTax CS or Fixed Assets CS
Follow these steps if you have UltraTax CS installed locally as well as on Virtual Office.
- Restore the CSD file to your local version of UltraTax CS by double-clicking the attachment.
- Back up the client data to a local hard drive by selectingFile, thenBackupin UltraTax CS.noteNetwork drives won't be mapped with Citrix on Virtual Office CS. You can access the network drive by entering\\Client\X$and the rest of the path to where you want to back it up on the network, whereXis the letter of the network drive.
- Sign in to NetStaff CS and open the application.
- SelectFile, thenRestorein the application menu.
- SelectModify Backup Location, then the location where the file was backed up on your local drive.noteAll local drives will have$after the initial letter. For example,C$(\\Client) (V:)is your local C: drive.
- SelectOK.
- SelectRestoreto restore the client data in Virtual Office.
