Customize client-specific text

You can customize UltraTax CS documents to meet the needs of your firm. Use client-specific text to personalize documents.
note
The {Client Specific Text} placeholder isn't available for transmittal letters created using Data Mining.

Insert a placeholder for client-specific text

Follow these steps to insert the {Client Specific Text} placeholder into a client document.
  1. Select
    Setup
    , then the entity (for example, 1040 Individual).
  2. Select the federal or state tab.
    note
    To add client-specific text for 1040 client organizer documents, switch to Organizer view. Select
    View
    , then
    Client Organizer
     before selecting
    Setup
    ,
    1040 Individual
    , then the
    Organizer
     tab.
  3. Select the document type (for example,
    Letters & Emails
     or
    Filing Instructions
    ).
  4. Open the document you want to edit.
  5. Place the cursor where you want to insert the placeholder for the client-specific text.
  6. Select
    Insert
    ,
    Embedded Content
    , then
    Client Specific Paragraph.
  7. Select
    Document
    , then
    Save
    .
  8. Select
    Document
    , then
    Exit
    .
Now that you've inserted the {Client Specific Text} placeholder in a document, you can open a client's return to enter text to replace the {Client Specific Text} placeholder when you print the document.

Create client-specific text

Follow these steps to create and save text that applies only to a specific client.
  1. Select
    File
    , then
    Open Client
     to open a client's return.
  2. Select
    Edit
    , then
    Client Specific Paragraph
     to open a blank document in the
    Document Editing
     window.
  3. Enter the text that you want to include in a document for the client.
    note
    The text you add will print in the client's document wherever the {Client Specific Text} placeholder is inserted.
  4. Select
    Document
    , then
    Save
    .
  5. Select
    Document
    , then
    Exit
    .
  6. Preview or print the document.

Remove client-specific information

Follow these steps to delete the text you entered for the client and remove the {Client Specific Text} placeholder from the document you edited.
  1. To delete the text you entered for the client, select
    Edit
    ,
    Client Specific Paragraph
    ,
    Document
    ,
    Delete
    , then
    OK
     to confirm that you want to delete the custom text.
  2. To remove the {Client Specific Text} placeholder from the document you edited, open the document, delete the {Client Specific Text} placeholder, then save and close the document.
