Enter or edit text for a header or footer

Follow these steps to enter or edit text for a header or footer.

Entering or changing text for a header or footer affects all documents (including letters created in Data Mining) that use that header or footer. You can't edit header or footer text via Data Mining Compose Client Letters.
  1. Select
    Setup
    , then the entity (for example, 1040 Individual).
  2. Select the federal or state tab.
  3. Select the document type (for example,
    Letters & Emails
    or
    Filing Instructions
    ).
  4. Find the document you want to edit and select
    Open
    .
  5. Select the
    Header/Footer
    tab to display a list of the available types of headers and footers.
  6. Select the header or footer you want to enter or change, then select
    Open
    .
  7. Do 1 of the following:
    • If no text has been entered:
      UltraTax CS displays a blank
      Document Editing
      window. Enter the text you want for the selected header or footer.
    • If text already exists:
      UltraTax CS displays a
      Document Editing
      window containing the current text. Make your changes to the text.
  8. Select
    Document
    , then
    Save
    to save your changes. Select
    Document
    , then
    Exit
    to close the
    Document Editing
    window.
