Send client data, documents, settings, or updates to a file
Follow these steps to send UltraTax CS client data, documents, system settings, product settings, CS Connect updates, or Data Mining reports, letters, or searches to an encrypted file that you can password-protect or to check out client data.
If your email service doesn't support the Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) protocol, use these steps to save the documents to a file, then attach the file to an email message.
If your email service does support MAPI, you can use
Send to Email Recipient
from the File
menu.- SelectFile,Send to, thenFileto open theSend to File Locationwindow.
- Select the type of item you want to send to file from the dropdown.
- In theAvailablepane on the left, select an item you want to send, then chooseSelectto move it to theSelectedpane.
- Optional:If you want to password-protect the file, enter the password in thePasswordfield and again in theVerifyfield.
- If necessary, selectModify Destination, then specify the location to which UltraTax CS will send the file.
- IfClientsis selected in the dropdown, you can mark the"Check out" selected clientscheckbox to indicate that you're taking the client's data home or to another location.
- SelectOKwhen all selected items are listed in theSelectedpane.UltraTax CS will create the file, place it in the specified location, and notify you of the name of the file and directory in which it was placed.
- Optional:Open a new email message using AOL (or other non-MAPI-supporting service) and manually attach the file you created.

- SelectClient ID,Name,Entityon the title bar of either pane to sort the list by that characteristic.
- Use theFocusgroup box to limit the clients who appear in the client listing by entity type and/or preparer/reviewer/staff.
