Add or modify custom reports in Data Mining
When you add or modify a custom report, you can create portrait, landscape, or export layouts, and choose calculated values and input screen fields as report contents.
- From theData Miningwindow, select theClient database, then selectContinue (Step 2).
- In thePrint Selection and Client Searchwindow, selectDesign Custom Reports.
- To add a custom report:
- SelectAddand enter a report name in theDescription.
- To base the report on an existing report, select an existing report from theTemplate.
- SelectContinue.
- To modify an existing custom report:
- In theCustom Reportswindow, select the report.
- SelectEdit.
- To modify the report name, enter the newReport name.
- To add client, contact, or other general information as a column heading in the report:
- SelectGeneralfor theProduct.
- Select an item in the Name list thenSelect.
- To add a calculated value from a federal or a state return as a column heading in the report:
- Selectfederalor a state from theProductdrop-down.
- SelectCalculated value.
- Select the value in the Name list, then useSelect.
- To add data from a federal or state input screen field as a column heading in the report:
- Selectfederalor a state from theProductdrop-down.
- SelectInput screen field.
- SelectSelect Field.
- Use the folders and tabs to choose the field, thenSelect.
note- Items not selected to display as column headings in the report appear in the Columns in the layout pane and in the Preview pane.
- As you add columns to the report, use thePreviewpane to view changes. The custom report changes from portrait to landscape to export format, depending on the number of columns and their font size and field length. If you created custom reports with more columns than can fit in the landscape layout, the page changes to export. You can't print export reports but you can use them to export search results to a file for use with other applications.
- Format the report:
- To reorder or remove report columns, select the column item in the Columns in the layout pane and useMove Up,Move Down, orRemove.
- Change the length of the fields with theField lengthup and down arrows.
- Change the font size with theFont sizeup and down arrows.
- Sort information by primary or secondary columns and choose whether the information displays in ascending or descending order.
- To list subtotals on reports that include input screen fields, mark theSubtotalcheckbox.
- SelectOK, thenDoneto return to thePrint Selection and Client Searchwindow.note

- The custom report includes the items you select as column headings for all clients who pass the search, no matter which search criteria you used in the search.
