Wrong amount retrieved by data sharing
Scenario
You may find that the wrong amount is retrieved in a client by a data sharing feature. Try the following troubleshooting tips to resolve this problem.
Troubleshooting tip 1: Refresh the data sharing files
- Open the client containing the data to be data shared.
- SelectFile, thenPreviewto refresh the data sharing files.
- Open the client that is to receive the shared data and verify that the amount is now correct.
Troubleshooting tip 2: Re-enter the EIN
- In the client that is to receive the data shared information, go to the input screen (such as theK1orK1Tscreen).
- Delete theEIN.
- Go to a different screen, then return and re-enter theEIN.
Troubleshooting tip 3: Delete the receiving client's K1 unit

These steps will delete all assets and carryover items, including basis carryovers, and beginning of year basis amounts. Don't take these steps if you need to retain assets, basis, or carryover amounts. Instead, go to the next troubleshooting tip.
- Go to theK1orK1Twindow (under the K1 1065, 1120S or K1 1041 folders).
- SelectEdit, thenDelete Screen Data.noteThis will delete the entire K1 unit.
- SelectFile, thenPreviewto recalculate the return.
- Open the client containing the data to be shared, then selectFileandPreviewto refresh the data sharing.
- Re-open the client that is to receive shared data to verify if the amount is now correct.
Troubleshooting tip 4: Rebuild data sharing
- With both clients closed, selectHelp, thenRepair.
- Select the client you will share information from thenRebuild Data Sharing.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each client involved in the data sharing process, then selectDone.
- Open the client with data to be data shared, and selectFile, thenPreview.
- Open the client that will receive shared data and check if the amount is now correct.
Troubleshooting tip 5: Delete the data sharing export file
- With both clients closed, selectHelp, thenRepair.
- Select the client you will share information from, thenDecompress Client.
- Mark the checkbox next to theData Sharing Export File, then selectDelete.
- SelectYes, thenDone.
- Open the client containing the data to be shared, then selectFileandPreview.
- Open the client to that will receive shared data and check if the amount is now correct.
