Check for errors in the e-file before transmission

Before you create an e-file to transmit, you might want to check it for errors. UltraTax CS will automatically check for errors during the e-file creation, but checking yourself first may be a better fit for your workflow. If there are any errors found, a report will appear listing them.
  1. Select
    File
    , then
    Print Returns
    .
  2. Mark the
    Create Electonic File
    checkbox.
  3. If you want to select only certain returns, like federal or state, select
    Options
    .

    To check only the FinCEN Form 114, clear the
    Federal
    checkbox and any state checkboxes, then mark only the
    FinCEN Form 114
    checkbox.
  4. Select
    Preview
    or
    Check E-File
    . This option depends on whether you have paper and/or electronic options selected.

    If you select
    Print
    or
    Create electonic file
    , the e-file will also be checked for errors. If there are errors, the e-file won't create and you'll get an error report. If there are no errors, the e-file will be created.
  5. Review the E-file Error Report. If there are no errors, there's no report.
