Scenario

You may get this error when opening UltraTax CS.

Only one instance of UltraTax CS is allowed to execute at any time.

Solution

Verify you've closed UltraTax CS. If the application icon is missing from your taskbar, try the following:
  1. Go to the
    Task Manager
    .
  2. In the
    Processes
     tab, find UltraTax CS
    2025
     or utw23.exe.
  3. Select all instances of UltraTax CS
    2025
     or utw25.exe, then select
    End task
    .
    tip
    You can also right-click and select
    End task
    .
  4. Open UltraTax CS
    2025
    .
