There are multiple causes for this error message.
Error when opening client
If you get this error when trying to open a client, it indicates that the client may be corrupt. To troubleshoot this error, make sure you can open a different client without getting an error message. If you've determined that this error is client-specific, decompress the client:
- SelectHelpthenRepair.
- Select the client in the list.
- SelectDecompress Client.
- SelectDonethenDone.
- Try to open the client again.
If decompressing the client doesn’t resolve the error, then the next best option is to restore the client from backup. If you use a third-party backup system or software, consult your qualified IT professional to restore the client data. You may also want to restore client files using
Windows Backup

, there may be corruption with a particular state module. Do the following to troubleshoot this:- SelectOKto the error message.
- In theClient Propertieswindow, select the state tab that may be corrupt.
- SelectDelete State.
- SelectOKandOK.

- If you no longer get the error, selectAdd Stateto re-add the deleted state.
- If you still receive the error, repeat the previous steps for the other states attached.
- If the error persists, restore the client from backup or re-proforma the client.

, follow these troubleshooting steps:- Close UltraTax CS.
- Go toX:\WinCSI\UTyySys, where X represents the drive to which UltraTax is installed and yy represents the version of UltraTax CS.
- Rename the file_yUSEFIN.DAT, where y represents the version of UltraTax CS.
- Try to open UltraTax CS.
- If this resolves your issue, go back toSetup,Office Configuration, thenE-Filing.noteGo toSetup,System Configuration, thenElectronic Filingfor UltraTax CS 2012 and prior version.
- Re-enter your EFIN and other applicable information in this tab.
