File caching and opportunistic locking

Microsoft's Opportunistic Locks may cause lock, performance, and data integrity problems for some databases.
Opportunistic locking for client/server databases lets multiple processes lock the same file while letting local (client) data cache to improve performance over Windows networks.
The default opportunistic locking mechanism that improves the performance of 1 type of database also introduces data integrity problems for other database types. We have observed multiple instances where opportunistic locking doesn’t release locks correctly.
Since disabling opportunistic locking involves editing the registry, contact your qualified IT professional for assistance.
