Homepage won't display or this application can't display the web page error appears

If you have an issue loading the UltraTax CS homepage, try the following steps. After each step, open the application and try to view the homepage.
  • In UltraTax CS, select
    Setup
    ,
    User Preferences
    , then the
    Homepage
    tab and verify that the homepage isn't set to
    Never
    .
  • Retrieve updates via CS Connect.
  • Go to
    Wincsi\UTYYSys
    , where YY is the year of UltraTax CS and rename the following files:
    utYYhome.con
    ,
    utYYhome.hst
    , and
    utYYhome.mht
    .
  • Go to
    WinCSI\UTYYSys
    , where YY is the year of UltraTax CS and rename the
    _yUSUMSC.[user]
    file, where y is the last digit of the year of UltraTax CS and [user] is the Windows sign-in ID.
  • Clear the local Windows Temp directory. For assistance, consult your IT professional.
  • In the Windows search bar, enter
    run
    and open the
    Run
    app. Enter
    %temp%
    and select
    OK
    . Use
    Ctrl
    and
    A
    on your keyboard to select all the files and select
    Delete
    on your keyboard. The goal is to delete as many of these files as possible. Select
    Skip
    when prompted with a message that a file can't be deleted.
