UltraTax CS system information
This information is intended for your qualified IT professional to use while planning for changes such as server migrations, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UltraTax CS. This can also help you share technical details of UltraTax CS with other staff members in your office or when discussing an issue with our Support team.

- The directory paths listed assumes UltraTax CS was installed using the defaultWinCSIdirectory. If you install UltraTax CS to a different directory, adjust accordingly.
Directories
There are 4 main directories:
Directory | Description |

\WinCSI\UTYY | This contains program level files and folders to run the UltraTax CS application. |
\WinCSI\UTYYSys | This is UltraTax CS system data. This consists of configuration files for global settings and file locations, lock files, user specific preference files, and temporary folders for various print jobs and CS Connect transmissions. |
\WinCSI\UTYYData | This is the default data location for UltraTax CS client data. If you have multiple data locations, there will be more than one folder with client data, and this name may be different. |
\WinCSI\DeprData | This is the default data location for Fixed Assets CS client data. It integrates with the Fixed Assets CS application. |

Lock Files
Lock files restrict access to files within UltraTax CS by allowing only one user or process access at any specific time.
There are several types of lock files:

UID.<UID> | User lock file | This file exists when a user opens UltraTax CS. |
UIDk1.<UID> | UltraTax CS Bar Code Scan user lock file | This file exists when a user opens the UltraTax CS Bar Code Scanner. |
UIDSDE.<UID> | UltraTax CS Source Data Entry user lock file | This file exists when a user opens the UltraTax CS Source Data Entry application. |
<Client ID> | Client lock file | This file exists when a client is open or "checked out" to prevent another user from accessing the same client. |
SPRF.<UID> | Proforma screen lock file | This file exists when a user is accessing the Proforma screen. |
SDMINEC.<UID> | Data mining screen lock file | This file is created when a user is accessing UltraTax CS data mining. |

<UID> represents the user's identification. UltraTax CS pulls this ID from the computer name in your Windows operating system.
There are 4 main locations for lock files:

\WinCSI\UTYYData\$TAXCID | This directory has client lock files, which prevent other users from accessing UltraTax CS client data that is open or in use. |
\WinCSI\DeprData\$DEPCID | This directory has client lock files for Fixed Assets CS. It prevents other users from accessing Fixed Assets CS or UltraTax CS depreciation client data that is open or in use. |
\WinCSI\UTYYData\$TAXSID | The directory has screen lock files, which prevent other users from accessing screens that is open or in use. |
User-specific files
User-specific files are unique files for each user of UltraTax CS.
In the

Global files
There are multiple files used by UltraTax CS that affect all users in the program. There are two primary data locations where these global files reside. Below are some of the integral program files:

UTYYHome.MHT | This file is the home page file, where YY indicates the platform year for UltraTax CS. To disable the home page for all users, rename the .MHT extension to .NA. |
Client data

Temporary Files

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Thomson Reuters | This directory temporarily holds UltraTax CS client data when a client is opened by a user. When a client is saved or closed, the data will be pushed back to the UTYYData directory or primary data location for UltraTax CS. |
Office configuration files

You can view installed program files and their details (e.g. version, UT version, size, date/time). To view the file details, go to.
Installation Prerequisites
There are several operating system prerequisites to run UltraTax CS, including Microsoft .NET Framework, and Microsoft Visual C++. The desktop setup for UltraTax CS will check that your workstation has these components and install the prerequisites that are missing. If you need to reinstall or repair the separate components required to run UltraTax CS, see the table below for the installation files.
