Update your license PIN to meet security requirements and download licenses for your programs.
To download and install licenses for your programs, you must enter your firm ID and license PIN (Personal Identification Number). Your default license PIN is your firm's ZIP Code, but you can't download licenses using this default PIN.
As the Licensee or Firm Delegate, update your PIN to meet the following secure PIN criteria:
Must contain 5 numerical characters
Must differ from your firm's ZIP Code
Can't use all the same number (such as 55555)
Can't use sequential numbers (such as 12345 or 54321)
Can't reuse a previous PIN
Change or review your license PIN
As the Licensee or Firm Delegate, follow these steps to review or change your current license PIN.
note
The Licensee or Firm Delegate serves as the account administrator with legal rights to client data. This role manages the client relationship with Thomson Reuters, including firm demographic changes, security requirements, and data responsibility.
You only need a license PIN for programs you install locally.
Software as a Service (SaaS):
Your service agreement prohibits local program installation, so you don't need a license PIN.
When to share your license PIN
Share your license PIN only with firm staff members or IT professionals who need to download licenses via CS Connect. They need your firm ID and license PIN to complete these tasks:
Purchase an additional license.
Change your network configuration.
Renew your programs.
Change the licensee's name.
Change your firm's name or address.
Security best practices
If you suspect an unauthorized individual has accessed your programs, update your license PIN immediately. As the Licensee or Firm Delegate, regularly review active accounts with access to your programs and turn off any accounts that should not have access.
If you have additional concerns about your programs, contact Thomson Reuters via phone, chat, or email.
Internal use only
Once a new PIN is saved on the website, an update is sent to EMS immediately and the new PIN replaces the old. This can be verified by returning to the
My Account
page.
Any User Services representative can verify the current PIN in EMS. Open the firm ID in EMS and select
