Troubleshoot utwYY.exe isn't responding

Adobe Reader and Acrobat can cause the UltraTax CS error utwYY.exe is not responding.
When opening or working in UltraTax CS, you may get a "
UltraTax CS YYYY: utwyy.exe is not responding
" message.
You can choose to wait for the program to respond, or close and restart UltraTax CS. If you get the error again, check the following Adobe settings.
  • Make sure the latest version of Adobe Reader is installed and set as the default PDF program.
  • In Adobe, select
    Menu
    ,
    Preferences
    ,
    Security (Enhanced)
    , and make sure the 
    Enable Protected Mode at startup
    checkbox is marked. If it is, uncheck it and try again.
  • Disable and re-enable the Adobe plug-in for your internet browser.
  • If the preceding steps don't resolve the issue, rename the
    _Yusumsc.user
    file, where
    Y
    is the version of UltraTax CS and
    user
    stands for the user's windows sign-in name. The user preference file is located in X:\WinCSI\UTYYSys where X is the drive where UltraTax CS is installed and YY is the year of the application.
