Create or update column mappings

Mapping columns establishes a link between the spreadsheet columns and the UltraTax CS statement window columns so that the data transfers to the correct location in the statement. The data from Excel (or the Windows Clipboard) appears in a grid on the Import Spreadsheet - Step 2 of 2 window. To use this grid to map columns, select the UltraTax CS statement column that corresponds with the data in the spreadsheet column.
Complete the following steps to create a new column mapping after you have selected the spreadsheet to import.
  1. On the Import Spreadsheet - Step 1 of 2 window, select
    Next
to open the Import Spreadsheet - Step 2 of 2 window. The spreadsheet data (from the Excel file or Windows Clipboard) will appear in the data grid. The initial size of this window is based on your screen resolution and the number of columns in the spreadsheet you are importing. To resize this window, select and drag the lower-right corner.
  2. In the Import Spreadsheet - Step 2 of 2 window, use the
    Column mapping name
field to change the column mapping name. The name defaults to the title of the statement window. Each time you use a mapping to import data, UltraTax CS automatically saves the mapping to use with future spreadsheet imports.
  3. Mark the
    Omit Row
checkboxes to exclude any rows containing data that you don't want to import. Marking an
    Omit Row
checkbox will cross out the data in the corresponding row and will turn the cells dark gray. You may want to exclude information like column headings, subtotals, totals, footnotes, and so on.
  4. Each column in the grid has a dropdown list at the top that is used to map that column. From each dropdown list, select the UltraTax CS statement column that corresponds with the data in that spreadsheet column. Review the notes on mapping columns for important information regarding this step of the process.
  5. Repeat step 4 for each column containing the data you want to import. Select
    Next
    and
    Previous
to move through the columns in the grid.
  6. If necessary, edit the data using the grid in this window. Review the examples of data that need verification for information on formatting certain values.
  7. Select
    Import
to verify data and correct any invalid information before completing the import process.
