Share client notes

To share client notes, follow these steps:
  1. Confirm program availability
    : Make sure all relevant CS applications are available on the same resource. For local, network, or Terminal Server (TS) installations, run the desktop setup on each workstation. If you use Virtual Office or Software as a Service (SaaS), verify that your NetStaff profile includes all the necessary programs.
    For local, network, or TS installations
    :
    1. Open Windows Explorer and go to the CS program installation folder.
    2. Locate the product folder:
      • UltraTax CS:
        UTYY
        (where YY is the tax year)
      • FileCabinet CS:
        CABINET
      • Fixed Assets CS:
        DSW
    3. Open the
      DESKTOP
      folder.
    4. Right-click
      Setup
      or
      Setup.exe
      and select
      Run as administrator
      .
    5. Follow the prompts to complete the workstation installation.
    For Virtual Office/SaaS users
    :
    • Confirm the CS application icon appears on your Virtual Office/SaaS home .
      • If the icon is missing, ask your firm’s NetStaff administrator to enable the application for you.
      • If you're unsure who your administrator is, contact Web Services Support to find out.
  2. Set the correct file locations
    : Set and confirm the correct file locations for data sharing.
  3. Ensure matching EIN/SSN
    :
    1. In Practice CS, go to
      Setup
      Clients
      .
    2. Select the client, then select
      Edit
      .
    3. On the
      Main
      tab, enter the client’s EIN or social security number in the
      EIN/SSN
      field. Make sure this value matches the one entered in other CS applications.
    4. Select
      Enter
      to save.
