Watch fields
UltraTax CS includes built-in Watch fields that help you monitor important values in a client's federal tax forms. These fields appear on the 
on the toolbar.
Watch
tab in the federal Diagnostics window. To open the window, press CTRL+D or select the Diagnostics
button on the toolbar.Add new watch fields
- Open a client return in UltraTax CS and go to Form view.
- Go to the form and field you want to watch, then right-click and selectWatch Field.noteIf you chose a field that is already watched, anEdit Watch Fieldwindow opens instead. You can change or delete existing fields and descriptions, but can't add new fields.
- In theDescriptionfield, enter the label you want to appear on the Watch tab in the federal Diagnostics window.
- SelectEnterto save the new description and add the field to the end of the list.
- If needed, selectMove UporMove Downto change its placement in the list.
- SelectOKto close and save.
Freeze the Watch tab
Freezing the Watch tab only applies to the current client, so it won't affect values in other returns.
To freeze or unfreeze the Watch tab:
- Open the Diagnostics window by pressing CTRL+D or select theDiagnosticsbutton on the toolbar.
- Go to theWatchtab.
- Select the arrow
next to Watchand selectFreeze.

If the federal Diagnostics window is in pane view, right-click in the Watch section and select either
Freeze
or Unfreeze
