Discourage Access dialog

Show all expandable content
Use this dialog to configure warnings for specified status events that can limit staff members' access to completed tax returns. After you set a warning for a status event, UltraTax CS displays the Warning - Status System dialog when a staff member opens a client for whom that event has been logged (either at any time or as the most recent event, depending on your settings). You can also configure the warning prompt to require users to enter the master password (if you enabled standard security settings) or to have specific security permissions (if you enabled advanced security settings).
To open this dialog, select the Discourage Access button on the Setup, Office Configuration, then Status tab.

User-defined events list
This list contains the user-defined status events that you set up using the Office Configuration then Status tab. Mark the checkbox for any event to attach a warning to that event. Once you set a warning for a status event, UltraTax CS displays a warning dialog when you open a client for whom that event has been logged (either at any time or as the most recent event, depending on the options you select on this dialog).
Warn me when any of the events checked above are:
Mark one of these options to specify when UltraTax CS displays the Warning - Status System dialog for the events marked in the User-defined events list.
  • Marking
    The most recently logged event
option will cause UltraTax CS to display the Warning - Status System dialog when a marked event is the latest event logged for a client.
  • Marking the
    Logged anytime
option will cause UltraTax CS to display the warning dialog any time a marked event is logged for a client.
Based on security settings, require master password or honor privilege settings to bypass this event
Mark this checkbox to require that the user either enter the master password (if using standard security) or have the "open client restricted by discourage access" privilege (if using advanced security) to bypass the Warning - Status System dialog.
UltraTax CS events list
This list contains all pre-defined UltraTax status events. Mark the checkbox for any event to attach a warning to that event. Once you set a warning for a status event, UltraTax CS displays a warning dialog when you open a client for whom that event has been logged.
note
  • UltraTax CS will automatically mark the
    Client checked out
status event and disable the checkbox. Whenever a client is checked out and another user attempts to open that client's data, the Warning - Status System dialog will appear to inform that user that the client is currently checked out. If a checked-out client is opened despite the warning, UltraTax CS will cancel the checkout.
  • UltraTax CS will automatically mark the
    ELF file created
status event. You can clear this checkbox if you prefer not to be notified when you are opening a client whose electronic file was already created.
Default 'Warning - Status System' screen to 'Open completed client for editing'
Mark this checkbox to have UltraTax CS mark the
Open completed client for editing
option on the Warning - Status System dialog by default, rather than the
View client input screen data in read-only mode
option.
Require reason for opening client despite warning
Mark this checkbox to require the staff member opening the completed return to enter a reason for doing so in the Bypass Warning Reason dialog.
