Print If dialog

Use this dialog to cause text to print only if the client's data meets specified criteria (for example, if there is a balance due or if the client is assigned to a particular preparer). In documents, the criteria-based text is preceded by a "Begin if" line and followed by an "End if" line, so that you know where the criteria-based statement begins and ends. The client documents provided with UltraTax CS already contain criteria-based text and pre-defined print conditions, but you can add your own text and print conditions. For more information about adding print conditions, see Adding criteria-based print conditions.
To open this dialog, highlight the appropriate text in the open document in the Document Editing window, and then choose Format then Print If.
Fields & buttons
Variable
Select this option to include in the list those print conditions that compare variables (such as AGI) to amounts. Then, highlight the desired print condition and select OK to apply it to the selected paragraph. The selected paragraph will then print if the condition is true.
note
To modify or view a print condition, highlight the condition in the list and select the Modify/View button.
Preparer
Select this option to include in the list only the available preparers. Then, highlight the desired preparer and select OK to apply the print condition to the selected paragraph. The selected paragraph will then print if the client was assigned to that preparer in the File then Client Properties dialog.
Print conditions / Preparers
- Lists the available print conditions if you selected theVariableoption. Select the desired print condition from the list and choose OK. The highlighted paragraph only prints for the client if the selected print condition is true. For example, select Return Balance Due to print the paragraph only if there is a balance due on the client's return.
- Lists the available preparers if you selected thePrepareroption. Select the desired preparer from the list and select OK. The highlighted paragraph prints only if the client was assigned to that preparer in the File then Client Properties dialog.
Advanced Print If options group box
Use the buttons in this group box to open dialogs in which you can add new print conditions or modify existing ones, and to delete existing print conditions.
note
- None of these buttons is available if you selected thePrepareroption at the top of this dialog.
- You can only delete print conditions that you previously added. You cannot delete print conditions supplied with the application.
New button
Select this button to open the New Print-If dialog in which you can add a new print condition that compares variables (such as AGI) to amounts.

This button is not available if you selected the
Preparer
option.Modify/View button
Select this button to open the Modify/View Print-Ifs dialog in which you can view or modify the print condition currently highlighted in the list.

- You can only modify print conditions that you previously added. You cannot modify the print conditions provided with the application.
- This button is not available if you selected thePrepareroption.
Delete button
Select this button to delete the currently highlighted print condition, if it is a condition that you added to UltraTax CS.
note
- You can only delete print conditions that you previously added. You cannot delete print conditions that were supplied with UltraTax CS.
- This button is not available if you selected thePrepareroption.

To remove a print-if condition but keep the text, delete the "Begin if" line that precedes the text and the "End if" line that follows it.
