Use this dialog to embed variables in the client document. Variables are replaced with client-specific information at print time. For example, the [client name] variable is replaced by the client's name when you print the document.
The client documents provided with UltraTax CS already include variables such as client name and address, but you can insert additional variables if necessary. The types of variables available include amount, text, date, and address.
To open this dialog, choose Variable from the Insert menu in the Document Editing window.

Fields & buttons

Variables group box
To specify which of the variables you want to appear in the list of available variables, select the appropriate option.
  • Select the
    Amount
    option to list amount variables such as prior years' tax.
  • Select the
    Text
    option to list text variables such as client name.
  • Select the
    Date
    option to list date variables such as extension due date.
  • Select the
    Address
    option to list address variables such as IRS Center.
Variable name and description
Lists the variable names and descriptions, based on the option you selected in the Variables group box.
To insert a variable into your document, highlight the variable in the list, and then select OK.
Add Barcode
Mark this checkbox if you want to print a barcode to accompany an address.

This checkbox is available only if you selected the
Address
option in the Variables group box.

To insert a variable, position the cursor in the document where you want to insert the variable, choose Insert thenVariable, highlight the variable you want to insert, and select OK.
