Proforma tab (1040)

Use this tab to set various proforma options that will apply to all 1040 clients.
To view this tab, choose Setup and then 1040 Individual, select the Federal tab, select the Other Return Options button, then select the Proforma tab.
note
  • Depending on your security configuration, you might be prompted to enter the master password before you can open an entity type tab.
  • Options set in this dialog in the prior year of UltraTax CS will proforma automatically.
  • The options set in this dialog will also apply to 1040 clients whose data was converted from another tax application.

Fields & Buttons

Options group box
Consent to disclose (Consent Screen)
Mark this checkbox to proforma the information in the Consent to Disclose input section of the Consent Screen. A date entered in the
Date consent will expire
 field does not proforma.
Consent to use (Consent Screen)
Mark this checkbox to proforma the information in the Consent to Use input section of the Consent Screen. A date entered in the
Date consent will expire
 field does not proforma.
Custom transmittal letter and invoice number (Letter Screen)
Mark this checkbox to proforma the custom transmittal letter and invoice numbers selected in the
Custom transmittal letter number
 and
Custom invoice number
 fields in the Letter Screen.

     fields in the Letter Screen, select one of those fields then press F1.
Custom electronic delivery passwords from the Client Communications dialog
Mark this checkbox to proforma any passwords that were overridden (indicated in red) from the Client Communications dialog in Setup and then Client Communications.
To protect the security of tax information, electronic returns and client organizers are password-protected. UltraTax CS can generate these passwords using the options specified on this dialog, or you can create custom passwords yourself by entering them in the Passwords column on the Client Communications dialog.
Enable form 1040-SR for taxpayer(s) age 65 or older on January 1st.
Mark this checkbox to prepare a 1040-SR federal return for clients that did not file the form in the prior year. The Client Properties 1040 type will proforma as “Seniors (1040SR)” for clients that are 65 or older on January 1,
2026
. The 1040 type will not change for clients filing a nonresident alien return in the prior year.
File the return electronically (ELF Screen)
UltraTax CS automatically proformas the
File this return electronically
 field in the ELF Screen if this field was marked in the prior-year client. If you prefer to manually designate each client to be filed electronically, clear this field prior to proforma processing.
Form 8283 general and done organization information
Mark this checkbox if you want Form 8283, Page 1 general and donee organization information to proforma. If you do not mark this checkbox, Form 8283 information will not proforma.

Print Tax Projection Worksheet (TPW Screen)
Mark this checkbox to proforma the
Print Tax Projection Worksheet
 field in the TPW Screen in the Review folder. UltraTax CS prints the worksheet automatically if any information is entered in the TPW Screen, or if this field is marked and data is not entered in the TPW Screen.

Tax Projection Worksheet amounts for comparison purposes (TPW-Comp Screen)
Mark this checkbox to proforma prior year Tax Projection Worksheet amounts to the TPW-Comp Screen in the Review folder.
Print Tax Projection Comparison Report (TPW-Comp Screen)
Mark this checkbox to proforma the option to print the Tax Projection Report from the prior year, if the option on the TPW-Comp Screen was marked.
Sort cash and noncash charitable contribution items during proforma (A Screen)
Mark this checkbox if you want Schedule A cash and noncash charitable contribution items to be sorted alphabetically when you proforma the return to the current year. If you do not mark this checkbox, the items will proforma in the order in which you entered them in the A Screen

Sort Schedule B interest and dividend items during proforma
Mark this checkbox if you want Schedule B interest and dividend items to be sorted alphabetically when you print the return. If you do not mark this checkbox, the items will print in the order in which you entered them.

Standard / Itemized deduction (Force)
Mark this checkbox if you want to proforma your entry in the
Standard / Itemized deduction (Force)
 field on the 1040 screen in the General folder.

This option applies to all 1040 clients.
Suppress client invoice printing (Letter Screen)
Mark this checkbox to proforma the
Suppress client invoice printing
 field in the Letter Screen.
Vehicle use information (Screens Auto and 2106-2)
Mark this checkbox to have UltraTax CS proforma the data entry from the prior-year UltraTax CS/1040 vehicle use questions in the Auto and 2106-2 Screens to the current-year screens for tax and client organizer. This option is enabled by default.
note
This option applies to all 1040 clients that are not using the asset module for vehicle use entry. Vehicle use questions in the asset module will proforma from year to year regardless of this option.
