PRP Preparer Block dialog

Use this dialog to enter different firm information that you can authorize for printing in the preparer block section of a client's return. The PRP preparer block(s) you enter will be available for selection in the
Preparer block
 field in the File then New Client or File then Client Properties dialog.
To open this dialog, choose Setup, System Configuration, then Firm tab, then select the PRP preparer block button.
note
  • Depending on your security configuration, you might be prompted to enter the master password before you can open the Firm tab.
  • You do not need to add a blank preparer block in this dialog because the UltraTax CS has one built in. Blank preparer blocks require a PRP authorization code.
  • If you are processing a client with a PRP-licensed application, you can print any preparer block you want for the client. If you are processing the client with a standard UltraTax CS license, supply Thomson Reuters with the client's taxpayer identification number to obtain an authorization code that allows you to print the client's return with the PRP preparer block. Authorization codes are entered in the File then New Client or File then Client Properties dialog.

Fields & buttons

PRP preparer blocks
Lists the PRP preparer blocks available for printing. You do not need to add a blank preparer block in this dialog because the UltraTax CS has one built in. Blank preparer blocks require a PRP authorization code.
Name and address fields
Enter the firm name and address for the PRP preparer block.
note
  • These fields are disabled until you either select the Add button or highlight an item in the list and select the Edit button.
  • The
    Name
     and
    Address
     fields can be a maximum of 35 characters each.
  • The
    City
     field can be a maximum of 19 characters.
EIN
Enter the employer identification number or leave this field blank for the PRP preparer block.
note
  • If the client has applied for but not yet received an EIN, enter a hyphen or an "a." UltraTax CS will print "Appl'd For" on the return in place of the employer ID.
  • This field is disabled until you either select the Add button or highlight an item in the list and select the Edit button.
Phone
Enter the phone number for the PRP preparer block.

This field is disabled until you either select the Add button or highlight an item in the list and select the Edit button.
Self-employed
Mark this checkbox if you want the corresponding box on the return to be checked. If you leave this checkbox blank, the checkbox on the return will be blank also.
Office
If your installation of UltraTax CS is shared by multiple firms or multiple branches of the same firm, you can use this field to associate preparers, staff, data locations, and PRP preparer blocks with a specific firm. When an office ID is used, certain drop-down lists will place any items related to that office at the beginning of the list. For example, if a specific office ID is associated with a data path and information for several preparers, those preparers' names will appear at the top of a
Preparer/staff
 drop-down list when ever that data location is selected.
Electronic Filing group box
Enter the preparer SSN and PTIN/SIDN in these fields if the PRP preparer block information differs from the Electronic Return Originator (ERO). If the PRP preparer block is not used for electronic filing, leave these fields blank. UltraTax CS will use the preparer SSN/PTIN specified on the File then Client Properties dialog.

Mark this checkbox to confirm that the Preparer Tax Identification Number entered in this dialog is accurate and being used by the registered owner. If a preparer or PRP Preparer Block is assigned to a client and this checkbox is
not
 marked, UltraTax CS will generate a federal critical diagnostic for the client. If UltraTax CS security options are set to prevent access to Setup then Office Configuration or Setup then System Configuration dialogs, someone with security access to those locations will need to mark this checkbox for each applicable preparer.
Signature block (where allowed) group box
Use the fields in this group box to specify which preparer name (if any) UltraTax CS should print in signature boxes. These fields will only apply to forms for which the taxing authority has indicated that a printed preparer name is acceptable as a signature.
Report button
Select this button to launch the Print PRP Block Report dialog, which you can use to specify sort criteria, preview, or print a PRP Preparer Block Information report.
