File Locations tab

Use the File Locations tab to determine and/or specify the location of your current-year UltraTax CS application and data files, your previous year's UltraTax CS application and data files, and if applicable, your files for Accounting CS, Creative Solutions Accounting (CSA) or a third-party accounting application.
To open this tab, choose Setup, User Preferences, then File Locations tab.
note
To modify the location of specific files, select the appropriate option in the Integrated applications group box, highlight the appropriate file type in the list, select the Modify Location button, navigate to the correct drive and path, and select OK to close the Modify Location dialog.

Fields & buttons

[[ut_cy_yyyy]] UltraTax CS
Select this option to display the location of your [[ut_cy_yyyy]] UltraTax CS application and data files.
note
  • You cannot use this tab to modify the location of the UltraTax CS application files.
[[ut_py_yyyy]] UltraTax CS
Select this option to display the location of your [[ut_py_yyyy]] UltraTax CS application and data files, if applicable.
note
To modify the location of the files, select this option, highlight the appropriate file type in the list, select the Modify Location button, navigate to the correct drive and path, and select OK to close the Modify Location dialog.
CS Accounting Products
Select this option to display the location of your Accounting CS or Creative Solutions Accounting (CSA) application and data files, if applicable.
note
  • The location of the Accounting CS application and data files is only used for sharing data between Accounting CS and UltraTax CS.
  • To modify the location of the files, select this option, highlight the appropriate file type in the list, select the Modify Location button, navigate to the correct drive and path, and select OK to close the Modify Location dialog.
Planner CS
Select this option to display the location of your Planner CS application files and the location to which you want to export Planner CS client data, if applicable.
note
To modify either location, select this option, highlight the appropriate file type in the list, select the Modify Location button, navigate to the correct drive and path, and select OK to close the Modify Location dialog.
CS Practice Products
Select this option to display the location of the Practice CS application and data files, if applicable.
note
To modify the location of the files, select this option, highlight the appropriate file type in the list, select the Modify Location button, navigate to the correct drive and path, and select OK to close the Modify Location dialog.
FileCabinet CS
Select this option to display the location of your FileCabinet CS application and data files, if applicable.
note
To choose an existing FileCabinet CS data path, highlight FileCabinet CS Client Data and select the Modify Location button. You can use the UltraTax CS Data Location dialog to select the UltraTax CS path associated with the FileCabinet CS data location (assuming you set up multiple data paths within FileCabinet CS). For more information, see Adding additional UltraTax CS and depreciation client data locations.
Other
Select this option to display the location of any other application and data files, if applicable.
note
To modify the location of the files, select this option, highlight the appropriate file type in the list, select the Modify Location button, navigate to the correct drive and path, and select OK to close the Modify Location dialog.
File Types and Location
Lists the application and data, along with their location, based on the option selected at the top of this tab.
Modify Location
Select this button to open the Modify Location dialog in which you can change the location of the files currently highlighted in the File Types and Locations list.
note
  • If the
    [[ut_cy_yyyy]] UltraTax CS
     option is selected and the UltraTax CS or Fixed Assets CS client data file type is selected in the list, select this button to open the UltraTax CS Data Location dialog where you can select any data location that has been added in the Setup, System Configuration, then Data Locations tab.
  • If the
    FileCabinet CS
     option is selected and FileCabinet CS Client Data is highlighted in the list, select this button to open the UltraTax CS Data Location dialog, which you can use to select the UltraTax CS path associated with the FileCabinet CS data location (assuming you set up multiple data paths within FileCabinet CS).
  • If the
    [[ut_cy_yyyy]] UltraTax CS
     option is selected and the UltraTax CS file type is selected in the list, this button is disabled because you cannot change the location of the current-year
    application
     files.
