User Preferences dialog (Source Data Entry)

Use this dialog to configure various user preferences related to the Source Data Entry utility. These options include determining whether UltraTax CS automatically completes FICA and Medicare wages on Form W-2, checks for the existence of an UltraTax client with the same TIN, and checks for duplicate forms.
To open this dialog, choose Setup then User Preferences in the UltraTax CS Source Data Entry utility.

Fields & buttons

Data location
Use this drop-down list to select the desired data location where you want to store information entered via the UltraTax CS Source Data Entry utility. These data locations are defined in the Setup, System Configuration, then Data Locations tab in Source Data Entry.

If you specify a location other than the default, you must also update the location of the Source Data Entry information in UltraTax CS. To do so, open UltraTax CS, choose Setup then User Preferences, select the File Locations tab, then select the

option. Highlight UltraTax CS Source Data Entry in the list pane, select the Modify Location button, and select the correct location from the drop-down list.
Save data in
Mark either the
Mixed Case
or
UPPER CASE
option to specify the format of stored data. By default, data entered via the UltraTax CS Source Data Entry utility will be stored in mixed upper and lower case.
Automatically complete FICA and Medicare wages (Form W-2)
Mark or clear this checkbox to specify whether you want UltraTax CS Source Data Entry to automatically calculate FICA and Medicare wages from the Federal wages entered in box 1 of Form W-2. This checkbox is marked by default.
Check for existence of UltraTax CS client when TIN is entered
Mark or clear this checkbox to specify if you want UltraTax CS Source Data Entry to notify the user when a TIN is entered in Source Data Entry that is not present in UltraTax CS. The notification dialog provides the
Continue Data Entry
and
Discard
options. This checkbox is marked by default.&
Check for duplicate forms when TIN is entered
Mark or clear this checkbox to specify if you want Source Data Entry to notify the user when a duplicate client TIN and issuer EIN are entered for a specific form. The notification dialog provides the
Open a previously entered form
and
Continue with a new form
options. This checkbox is marked by default.
Use same recipient TIN on consecutive forms
Mark or clear this checkbox to specify if you want Source Data Entry to automatically reuse the recipient TIN on the next new form entered in Source Data Entry. This checkbox is marked by default.
Select fields with extracted OCR data when present on source documents in FileCabinet CS
Mark or clear this checkbox to specify if you want FileCabinet CS to highlight character extraction locations when verifying data retrieved using Source Document Processing. This checkbox is marked by default.
Display all custom fieldview items in drop-down list
Mark this checkbox to include all entries in the Custom Fieldview dialog in the corresponding custom fieldview drop-down list. If this checkbox is not marked, only those entries with the
Display in drop-down
checkbox marked will be included in the drop-down lists.
