Custom Fieldview dialog (Source Data Entry)

Show all expandable content
Use this dialog to enter items into the custom fieldview attached to the current field and to select which items appear in the custom fieldview drop-down list. After you make entries in a custom fieldview, you can subsequently select them from that fieldview when preparing returns. To quickly add items to a custom fieldview, simply enter the item directly in the field. The information you enter is saved automatically, but will not automatically display in the drop-down list.
To open this dialog, select the Edit Custom Fieldview command in the drop-down list for a field in Source Data Entry.
  • To have UltraTax display all fieldview entries in the drop-down list, choose Setup then User Preferences and mark the
Display all custom fieldview items in drop-down list
    checkbox.
  • To view only some items that you enter in the drop-down list, open the Custom Fieldview dialog and mark the
    Display in Drop-down
checkbox for each item you want to include in the drop-down list.
  • To add items to a custom fieldview via this dialog, select the "Click here to add new item" row and enter the appropriate information. When you are finished adding items, select OK.
  • To delete items from a custom fieldview, select the row in the list and select the Delete button.
note
  • Changes made to fieldviews in Source Data Entry are automatically applied to the corresponding fieldviews in UltraTax CS. For example, deleting an employer name from the custom fieldview on Form W-2 in Source Data Entry will also remove the same employer name from the custom fieldview on federal Screen W2 in UltraTax/1040. To disable this option within Source Data Entry, choose Setup then System Configuration, select the Other Options tab, and clear the
Allow users to edit UltraTax CS custom fieldviews from within UltraTax CS Source Data Entry
    checkbox.
  • There are two types of custom fieldviews, linked (view example) and non-linked (view example).

Fieldview items
The items for the selected custom fieldview are listed here. Custom fieldviews are similar to regular fieldviews except that you determine the list of entries that appears in them. This means that custom fieldviews are blank (and only contain the Edit Custom Fieldview command) until you make entries in them. You can select an entry from the drop-down list if the
Display in Drop-down
checkbox is marked on this dialog.
To add items to a custom fieldview via this dialog, select the "Click here to add new item" row and enter the appropriate information. When you are finished adding items, select OK.
note
Non-linked fieldviews will allow you to enter information for the selected field only. Linked fieldviews will allow data for the selected field as well as additional related fields. These related fields will automatically populate with the appropriate information entered in the Custom Fieldview dialog.
Display in Drop-down checkbox
Mark this checkbox to include the associated entry in the drop-down list attached to the current custom fieldview.
Enter text
Select the "Click here to add new item" row and enter the text for the fieldview entry in this field. Then, either select OK to save the information and close the Custom Fieldview dialog, or select the "Click here to add new item" row again to add additional fieldview items.
