UltraTax CS Source Data Entry dialog

The UltraTax CS Source Data Entry utility enables you to enter data on facsimile versions of the following forms that your clients submit for the preparation of their tax returns:

Once the facsimile forms are complete, you can export the data to UltraTax CS and accept it into your 1040 client data files via the data sharing feature.
This window shows a series of tabs which display the form facsimiles available in the UltraTax CS Source Data Entry utility. To open the facsimile of a source document, select the appropriate tab, and then select the icon of the form in the window. You can use the arrow keys to select the desired form and press Enter, or you can press the underlined "hot key" character for the desired form. In addition, you can choose the desired form name from the View menu.
To open the UltraTax CS Source Data Entry window, double-select the UltraTax CS Source Data Entry icon on your Windows desktop or choose Utilities then  UltraTax CS Source Data Entry from within UltraTax CS.

Fields & buttons

Form facsimiles
Form facsimiles duplicate the contents of the forms that your clients submit. To use the facsimile forms, enter the data in the Source Data Entry fields exactly as it appears in the original source document.

Fields that are not required or not included in data sharing may be disabled.
Use any of the following methods to open the facsimile for a particular form.
  • Select the tab for the appropriate category of source document, then either (a) select the appropriate form icon in the UltraTax CS Source Data Entry dialog, (b) use the arrow keys to select the desired form and press Enter, or (c) press the underlined "hot key" character for the desired form.
  • Choose the form name from the View menu. Choose either the Source Document Processing (OCR) Supported Forms or the Forms and Statements - Data Entry Only sub-menu to see the lists of forms available.
Session history
This pane displays general information about each facsimile form that was entered during the current session.
Save as text file
Select this button to save the contents of the session history pane to a text file.
Print
Select this button to print the contents of the session history pane.
Export to UltraTax CS button
Select this button to export the data for use with your UltraTax CS client data via the data sharing feature. The results of the export are displayed in the Session history pane at the bottom of the Source Data Entry dialog.
Postpone button
Select this button to save the information entered in Source Data Entry, but not have it available for use with your UltraTax CS client via data sharing. When data is postponed, the result is displayed in the Session history pane at the bottom of the Source Data Entry dialog box.
Discard button
Select this button to delete the data entered in the form fields and close the facsimile. The discarded data will not be saved and will not be available via data sharing. When data is discarded, a record of the deletion is displayed in the Session history pane at the bottom of the Source Data Entry dialog. If data was previously exported or postponed for the form, a dialog will provide the choice to either discard changes made to the form during this session or to permanently delete all data for the form.
