Include list doesn't include all returns for transmittal letter

By default, an option to include a list of returns prepared in the transmittal letter is selected.
If this feature isn't working, verify the following:
  1. Select
    Setup
, then the Federal entity (for example, 1040 Individual).
  2. Go to the
    Federal
    tab.
  3. Select
    Other Return Options
    , then the
    Client Documents
    tab.
  4. Verify that the
Include list of returns in transmittal letter
option is selected. If you select this option, continue to the following troubleshooting tips.

Verify that the {List of Returns} variable exists in the transmittal letter

  1. Select
    Setup
, then the Federal entity, then the
    Federal
    tab.
  2. Select the
    Letter & Emails
    button, then
    Transmittal Letter
    .
  3. Verify that the
    {List of Returns}
    variable exists.
    • If the variable doesn't exist, add it by selecting
      Insert
      , then
      Embedded Content
      , then
      List of Returns
      .
    • If the variable does exist but some or all of the returns aren't printing, continue to the next troubleshooting tip.

Verify the print condition set for a form/schedule if it isn't printing

  1. Select
    Setup
, then the Federal entity, then the
    Federal
    tab and/or
    State
    tab.
  2. Select the
    Tax Return
    button and then select the
    Client
    tab.
  3. Go to the form/schedule and verify that it's selected to print
    As required
    .
  4. If it isn't, make the change, then select
    OK
twice to return to the main screen.
  5. Verify that the form/schedule is printing in the
    List of Returns
    .

Verify the collation file

  1. Close UltraTax CS and go to
    X:\WinCSI\UTYYSys\$Office\default\Entity
    , where
    X
is the drive letter where the data is stored,
    YY
is the year of the application (for example, "22" for 2022), and
    Entity
is the Federal entity affected (1040, 1120, other).
  2. Locate the
    xyssCOLX.dat
    file, where
    X
is the entity type (for example, 1040 = 1),
    Y
is the year of the application (for example, 22 = 6), and
    SS
is the Federal, State, or City abbreviation.
  3. The 1040 Federal file (for example purposes) is
    I7USCOLX.dat
. If this file isn't listed in this location, the return won't appear in the transmittal letter.
  4. Close UltraTax CS, rename the
    xyssCOLX.dat
file, reopen UltraTax CS, and test the transmittal letter again.
