Transmittal Letter/Filing Instructions not printing combined
Scenario
: You've combined the transmittal letter and filing instructions (under Setup
, then 1040 Individual
) but they're printing separately.There are some scenarios where the filing instructions and transmittal letters can't be combined.
For clients with Delaware, Pennsylvania, Michigan Business Tax, or Ohio Generic City returns, or for clients with
Print name
on 2023 1040-ES vouchers selected on the EST
screen, the separate taxpayer and spouse transmittal letters and filing instructions can't be combined during printing even when the Separate Transmittal Letter, but combine federal and state filing instructions
or Combine Transmittal Letter and Filing Instructions in Letter Format
options is selected in Setup
, 1040 Individual
, then the Federal

If the client entity is a 1040 Domestic Partnership, the federal and state filing instructions will print separately no matter what the settings are, since a domestic partnership isn't recognized for federal returns.
