Proforma tax return or input screen print collations using the Return Collation window

If you used UltraTax CS last year, you can proforma tax return or input screen print collations from 1 or more of the UltraTax CS applications that you licensed in the previous year. You can proforma print collations from either the
Proforma
 window or the
Return Collation
 window. Both tasks produce the same results, but using the
Return Collation
 window lets you proforma the Government, Client, or Preparer collations individually.
We strongly recommend that you don’t proforma or customize form print collations until you install version
2025
.2.0 of the UltraTax CS federal applications, which are released in late December. Because the
2025
.2.0 updates include more final government forms, any form collations that you customize or proforma before the December release can get replaced (causing you to lose those changes) when you install the
2025
.2.0 updates.
Do the following to proforma tax return or input screen print collations using the
Return Collation
 window.
  1. Select
    Setup
    ,
    User Preferences
    , then
    File Locations
    , and verify that the prior-year application and data paths are correct.
  2. Select
    Setup
    ,
    [Entity]
    , then select the federal or state application or (for 1040)
    Organizer
     tab for the collation you want to proforma.
  3. Depending on the collation you want to proforma, do 1 of the following:
    • For tax return collations:
       Select
      Tax Return
       to open the
      Return Collation
       window. By default, the
      Return Collation
       opens with the
      Government
       tab showing. If you don't want to proforma the prior-year government collation, select either the
      Client
       or
      Preparer
       tab.
    • For input screen collations:
       Select
      Input Screens
       then
      Input Screen Printing
       to open the
      Input Screen Printing
       window.
  4. Select
    Restore Default
    , then
    Prior Year Collation
    .
  5. If you want to proforma additional tax return collations, select the tab (
    Government
    ,
    Client
    , or
    Preparer
    ) and repeat this process as necessary.
  6. Repeat the process for any other federal or state UltraTax CS applications for which you want to proforma a print collation.
note
You can't proforma an application's collation from the previous year if you didn't use that UltraTax CS application last year.
