Tax Automation Security and Permissions
UltraTax CS includes Gather and Prepare specific permission settings within Advanced Security Settings, allowing firm administrators to control which staff groups can access certain Gather and Prepare features inside Tax Automation.
Overview
UltraTax CS now includes Gather and Prepare specific permission settings within Advanced Security Settings. Firm administrators can control which staff groups can access certain Gather and Prepare features inside Tax Automation.
To access security features within UltraTax CS, use the following resources:
Standard security
When standard security is enabled (default), an option is provided to restrict access to Tax Automation. Check the box to
Restrict access to Tax Automation
on the Security tab in to turn on this restriction firm wide. Once this is checked, staff will be required to enter the master password to access the Tax Automation experience. Advanced security
When advanced security is enabled, options are provided to restrict access to Tax Automation and certain features/areas of Tax Automation. Advanced security settings for Tax Automation can be found at:
Understanding Tax Automation Privileges
The privileges are available under the
Tax Automation
section in Security Configuration.- Tax Automation
- Controls access to the entire Tax Automation workspace. When allowed, staff can access all Tax Automation screens and functionality; when restricted, the workspace is inaccessible.
- Firm Settings
- Controls access to the Tax Automation Firm Settings in the Settings screen. When allowed, staff can access the screen and all options within it; when restricted, staff cannot access the Firm Settings section of the Settings pane. Note that the Personal Settings section remains visible and accessible regardless of this permission.
- Gather completion threshold
- Controls access to the threshold option under Firm Settings in the Settings pane. When allowed, staff can view and change the threshold; when restricted, the option is hidden entirely.
- Gather
- Controls access to Gather page and functionality. When allowed, staff can access the Gather page and view Gather-related client information; when restricted, the Gather page does not appear and Gather functionality is unavailable.
- Create Gather engagement
- Controls the ability to submit new Gather engagements in Tax Automation. When allowed, staff can create new engagements from the Gather and Not Started client grid and action menus; when restricted, staff can view existing engagements but cannot create new ones, Create Gather actions will be hidden.
