Troubleshoot applications not opening or opens minimized in the taskbar
Try the following steps if an application is not opening. The application may be opening off-screen, minimized, or hidden in the taskbar.
- Look for the application icon in your taskbar, where all open program icons appear. If you see the icon, continue to the next step.
- Hold theShiftkey and right-click the application icon in the taskbar.
- SelectMaximizeorRestore.
On Windows 11, if the previous steps don’t work:
- Right-click your desktop and selectDisplay settings.
- SelectDisplayin the side menu.
- Select each monitor and use theChange the size of text, apps, and other itemsslider to set the same DPI percentage for all monitors.
- Sign out of Windows, then sign back in.

If the previous steps don’t fully restore or open the minimized application, try the following:
- If you use multiple monitors, rearrange the monitor order in Windows Display settings.
- Move the monitor rectangles into a different order place 1 on top, and the other on bottom
- If arranged left to right, reverse the order so the right monitor becomes the left and vice versa
- You can also open applications from a different workstation that has Azure Remote Desktop or Windows App installed.
- Sign in to the other workstation and open the applications
- Move the application window to the primary monitor
- Close the applications and sign out of the account
- Sign in to the same account on the original workstation and try launching the applications again
