Set preferences for Microsoft Exchange spam filtering

You can customize spam filtering in the following ways.

Enable or block messages from specific email addresses or domain names

  1. Sign in to your Spam Quarantine account by selecting the
    click here
     link in your daily Spam Quarantine Summary email message.
  2. Select the
    Preferences
     tab, then
    Whitelist/Blacklist
     subtab.
  3. Do one of the following.
    • In the Allowed Email Addresses and Domains section, enter an email address or domain name in the text field and select the
      Add
       button. Messages from the email address or domain you added will be delivered to your Outlook inbox.
    • In the Blocked Email Addresses and Domains section, enter an email address or domain name in the text field and select the
      Add
       button. Messages from the email address or domain you added will be blocked; they won’t be delivered to your Outlook inbox.
    note
    • You can enter information in the following formats:
      • user@domain.com
      • domain.com
      • com
        To block an entire top-level domain, the dot needs to be omitted. For example, to block all “dot-com” addresses, enter
        com
         instead of
        .com
        .
    • To enable or deny multiple addresses or domain names, select the
      Bulk Edit
       button in the correct section, enter the addresses or domain names in the text box, and select the
      Save Changes
       button. Press
      Enter
       after each email address or domain name.

Send spam messages to your Outlook inbox with a [QUARANTINE] identifier

Quarantined messages are normally placed in your Spam Quarantine account. If you prefer, you can have these messages delivered to your Outlook inbox with the subject preceded by “[QUARANTINE]”.
  1. Sign in to your Spam Quarantine account by selecting the
    click here
     link in your daily Spam Quarantine Summary email message.
    note
    You can also access your Spam Quarantine account by going to https://spamfilter.netlinksolution.com, then signing in using your Microsoft Exchange email address.
  2. Select the
    Preferences
     tab, then select the
    Quarantine Settings
     subtab.
  3. In the Quarantine Enable/Disable section, select the
    No
     option.
  4. Select the
    Save Changes
     button.
Messages identified as spam will now be sent to your Outlook inbox. The subject of the message will begin with “[QUARANTINE]”.

Change the frequency you receive Spam Quarantine Summary email messages

Spam Quarantine Summary email messages are sent each morning by default. However, you can change the frequency with which these messages are sent.
note
Even when the Spam Summary Notification Interval preference is Daily, there are 2 exceptions that prevent the Barracuda from sending the notification:
  1. If there is no new quarantined mail for you since the last notification interval, no summary email will be sent
  2. If you sign into your Quarantine Inbox since the last notification interval, no summary email will be sent
  1. Sign in to your Spam Quarantine account by selecting the
    click here
     link at the bottom of your daily Spam Quarantine Summary email message.

    You can also access your Spam Quarantine account by going to https://spamfilter.netlinksolution.com and signing in using your Microsoft Exchange email address.
  2. Select the
    Preferences
     tab.
  3. Select the
    Quarantine Settings
     subtab.
  4. In the Quarantine Notification section, select an option.
  5. Select
    Save Changes
    .
note
In this section, you can also change the email address to which the Spam Quarantine Summary email message is sent.

Change the language your Spam Quarantine Summary message is delivered

  1. Sign in to your Spam Quarantine account by selecting the
    click here
     link at the bottom of your daily Spam Quarantine Summary email message.

    You can also access your Spam Quarantine account by going to https://spamfilter.netlinksolution.com and signing in using your Microsoft Exchange email address.
  2. Select the
    Preferences
     tab.
  3. Select the
    Quarantine Settings
     subtab.
  4. In the Default Language section, select the language from the
    Default Language
     dropdown list.
  5. Select
    Save Changes
    .

Turn off spam filtering

Follow these steps to turn off spam filtering for your Microsoft Exchange email account.
  1. Sign in to your Spam Quarantine account by selecting the
    click here
     link at the bottom of your daily Spam Quarantine Summary email message.

    You can also access your Spam Quarantine account by going to https://spamfilter.netlinksolution.com and signing in using your Microsoft Exchange email address.
  2. Select the
    Preferences
     tab.
  3. Select the
    Spam Settings
     subtab.
  4. Select the
    No
     option.
  5. Select
    Save Changes
    .
