You can change how numbers appear in your report. This can make your reports easier to read and understand, especially when dealing with expenses or losses.
Sometimes you might want to flip the sign of numbers in your report. For example, changing a negative to a positive, changing how a negative amount is presented, or choosing between numerals or ordinal words. Follow these steps to change the sign of account balances.
Select
File
, then
Report Designer
.
Select the
+
next to the document type folder.
Double-click a report to open it.
Save a backup (recommended):
Select
File
, then
Save As
.
Give your report a new name.
Select the cell you want to change.
Select
Format

Cells
, then the
Format
tab.
Select
Amount
in the Category list, then mark the
Multiply by -1
checkbox. This changes a positive to a negative or a negative to a positive.
Select
Amount
in the Category list and choose whether numbers are represented using numerals or ordinal words (the difference between 99 and ninety-ninth).
Select
Amount
in the Category list and use the dropdown for
Negative Amounts
to change how negatives are displayed. You can choose between a minus sign, parenthesis, and red text.
