Update database if clients are missing when converting from CCH
Follow these steps to update a CCH database if clients that are to be converted from CCH don’t appear in the list (or if only the demo clients are in the list).
note
This issue usually happens because the server drive is mapped on the local machine, and the conversion tool can't see those mappings.
Create 2 folders on your workstation at
C:\UTS\CWUSUITE\Common
and
C:\UTS\CWUSUITE\Data
.
Copy the client files over to the new
C:\UTS\CWUSUITE\Data
folder on the local workstation drive.
Make a copy of the
cwuMaster.mdb
file.
important
The steps that follow will be done on the copy of the
cwuMaster.mdb
file. Don’t modify the original.
Open the copy of the
cwuMaster.mdb
file in Microsoft Access.
Locate the GeneralLedger table, right-click, then select
Open
.
In the DatabaseLocationUNC column, delete anything listed there for all clients and records.
Add the following path to the
DatabaseLocation
column for all clients and records:
C:\UTS\CWUSUITE\Data
Do the same for the Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable tables.
Save the
cwuMaster.mdb
file at
C:\UTS\CWUSUITE\Common
folder on the local workstation.
Open CCH and try to open a client. You'll get a message that says the following:
"An entry for the Client Write-Up application was found in the Master database for this client. However, the client database was not found at the location specified in the database. Do you wish to browse for it?"
.
Select
Yes
on the message.
Go to the
C:\UTS\CWUSUITE\Data
folder then select
Open
.
Do this for every module the client uses.
You are now able to create the conversion file and import them into Accounting CS.
