Lord Jay of Ewelme and Vikram Singh Mehta to Join Thomson Reuters Founders Share Company Board of Directors

Thomson Reuters Founders Share Company today announced that it has appointed Lord Jay of Ewelme and Vikram Singh Mehta to its Board of Directors.

LONDON – Thomson Reuters Founders Share Company today announced that it has appointed Lord Jay of Ewelme and Vikram Singh Mehta to its Board of Directors.

The Thomson Reuters Founders Share Company acts as a guardian of the Thomson Reuters Trust Principles. The Trust Principles apply to the entire Thomson Reuters business and are designed to preserve its independence, integrity and freedom from bias in the gathering and dissemination of information and news. The new appointments will take effect on January 1st, 2014.

Lord Jay worked in the British Diplomatic service for 37 years, serving in London, Washington, New Delhi and Paris. He was the British Ambassador to France from 1996 to 2001, then Head of the Diplomatic Service from 2002 to 2006. In 2005 he served as the British Prime Minister's Personal Representative or Sherpa at the G8 Summit in Gleneagles. He retired from the Diplomatic Service in 2006, when he was nominated as an independent member of the House of Lords. He was educated at Oxford and London universities and is a non-executive director of Associated British Foods, Candover PLC, Valeo SA and EDF.

Vikram Singh Mehta is Chairman of Brookings India. He joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1978, before joining Philips Petroleum as their Senior Economist in 1980. He then spent 14 years in the oil industry in various positions in India, the UK and Egypt and until recently held the position of Chairman of Shell Group in India. He is a member of the National Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Chairman of its hydrocarbons committee and serves on the boards of Colgate Palmolive India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Vodafone India and Larsen & Toubro. He writes a column for The Indian Express and regularly appears in the Indian media.
