Thomson Reuters Adds 115 Million Global Company Names to SAEGIS on SERION
NORTH QUINCY, MA – Thomson CompuMark, a Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property & Science business and global leader in trademark searching and brand protection solutions, today announced the launch of Company Names on SAEGIS, for its SAEGIS® on SERION® online trademark screening solution. SAEGIS enables trademark professionals to access the broadest trademark content available through a single source, minimizing administrative resources, time and costs associated with trademark screening projects.
Company Names on SAEGIS can be used as part of the trademark research process to determine if a target trademark has already been registered as an identical or similar trademark or name. It provides a holistic approach to trademark screening by expanding the process beyond trademarks and focusing on adjacent rights. Company names are relevant in common law countries, including the U.S., which do not require formal registration to enforce trademark rights, as well as in first-to-file countries, in which registered company owners can prohibit a trademark registration based on a registered company name. The company name database on SAEGIS includes 115 million names in 212 countries across North, Central, and South America; the Caribbean; Europe; Middle East; Africa; and Asia.
“Screening proposed trademarks in markets around the world is critical for successful brand expansion in our global economy,” said Shawn O’Brien, director of product development, Thomson CompuMark. “Our goal is to simplify this process and provide trademark professionals with the broadest global trademark content, through a single source, enabling them to conduct business anywhere their business needs take them. Our commitment began with the ‘One World. One Source,’ initiative making Thomson CompuMark the world’s largest provider of online trademark screening data, and continues today with the addition of Company Names on SAEGIS.”
SAEGIS provides clients with the flexibility to create customized search algorithms and receive targeted information to make informed trademark decisions.
