Thomson Reuters Tobias Lee Receives Leader of Excellence Award

NEW YORK - Tobias Lee, chief marketing officer for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, was recognized by the National Association of Asian American Professionals with its 2013 Leader of Excellence Award for the Dallas chapter.

Sponsored by the NAAAP-DFW, the annual award is bestowed upon professionals in the Asian American community who have achieved noteworthy success in their respective fields, while making significant impact in their local communities. Five winners were selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants.

“It is a great honor to be recognized,” said Tobias Lee. “When you have a fulfilling career at a place where you love to work, it makes you want to do your very best both professionally and within the community. Given the importance that Thomson Reuters places on celebrating diversity and community service, I am thrilled to be representing our firm and have agreed to sit on the NAAAP-DFW’s senior advisory council going forward.”

The award ceremony was held at the Magnolia Hotel in downtown Dallas earlier this month. Kim Cummings, vice president human resources and board member for NAAAP-DFW, presented Tobias with his award at this exclusive event.

“Having a demanding, successful career and still being able to give back to the community is no easy feat,” said Kim Cummings. “Tobias Lee is a great example of how Asian American professionals can achieve work-life balance and make leaders along the way. We are very proud to honor him with the Leader of Excellence Award and look forward to his leadership on our senior advisory council.”

Lee oversees global marketing strategy including branding, creative services, demand generation, public relations, customer excellence, and online marketing for the Tax & Accounting division of Thomson Reuters. He also was selected by ExecRank as a Top CMO for 2012, ranking number 60 out of 500 chief marketing officers. Before joining Thomson Reuters, Lee was a marketing executive at Trend Micro where he held a variety of roles, most recently global vice president of consumer and small and midsize business marketing. From 2005 to 2007, he was based in the company’s headquarters in Tokyo where we led the enterprise marketing team and launched the company’s first private conference, now in its eighth year of operation. Prior to Trend Micro, Lee worked in brand management and marketing at Dell and Toshiba.

He holds a BA in law from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. He is a frequently published author on marketing topics and sits on advisory boards for the CMO Council of North America, the NG Customer Experience Board and will now join the Senior Advisory Council for NAAAP DFW.
